The Life Preserver

Designed for those new to campus, or those wishing to know about the computing resources available to them, The Life Preserver is dedicated to helping new users learn how to become connected in the University environment and to address specific issues related to student academic computing at UT.

Email

If you are a student at the university, you are automatically eligible for an email account, however you can only register for an email account once you receive a NetID and password. In most cases, your NetID and password are automatically assigned to you as soon as you are accepted by the admissions office. You may check to see if you have a NetID by going to the people search website and searching for yourself.

Once you have determined if you are eligible for an email account and made sure that you are in the LDAP database, you are ready to register for an email account. This site will prompt you for your NetID and password. If you are unsure of what your either of these items is, please click here. Once your account has been set up, you have several options as to how you can access your email. The university automatically provides you with access to your email through our web based mailing program, Tmail (previously: Webmail).Computer Lab

VolPrint System

A new campus-wide Print System that requires a per-page charge has been installed for computers across campus. The new Print System will create a fair, easy-to-use print process and will help to conserve paper, toner, ink, and other resources. For more information, see http://volprint.utk.edu/ or the announcement on the University Libraries web site.
