Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are offered through many departments and colleges. Information concerning these types of assistance can be obtained from the department in which the student plans to study. All assistantships are governed by the Policy for the Administration of Graduate Assistantships.

POSITION AVAILABLE FOR UTK GRADUATE STUDENT:
PEACE CORPS CAMPUS REPRESENTATIVE, UTK
Exciting part-time position available in the Center for
International Education at the University
of Tennessee, Knoxville. Duties: promotes Peace Corps on campus to
the student body, faculty,
and media; evaluates applications and conducts interviews,
coordinates with the Atlanta
Regional Office; submits monthly reports. The position reports to
Dr. Pia Wood, Associate
Provost, Center for International Education.
Benefits: Tuition Waiver, health insurance, and a
stipend of approximately $12,000-14,000. This
is a nine month position.
Qualifications:
Must be a returned Peace Corps volunteer and an accepted or current
graduate student at UT
Excellent oral and written communication skills, initiative and
ability to work independently
Must be able to work flexible hours including occasional evenings
and weekends.
Must be able to maintain regular office hours 20 hours/week during
academic semesters
Position begins in August 2012 and ends in May 2013. Training will
be conducted in August
prior to start of school year. (Availability for some training in
May 2012 would be a positive)

Position: Minority Achievement Peer Mentoring Program Graduate
Assistant

Job Requirements/Qualifications
Excellent oral, interpersonal, group, and written communication
skills
Experience working with diverse student organizations in a
leadership or advisory role
Cultural, academic, mentoring or programming experience
Organizational skills that would allow for performance of several
tasks and programming initiatives
Awareness of successful academic and social support programs and
activities
Commitment to the educational and personal development of students
Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and
weekends
Responsibilities and Tasks
Assist with the coordination and assessment of events and activities
sponsored by the Minority Achievement Program i.e. Success Skills
workshops, Community Service activities and Social events
Provide advisory support to 35-50 undergraduate peer mentors
Responsible for mentor and mentee pairings
Coordinate student leadership and mentoring training workshops
Supervise the mentor recruitment, screening and selection process
Perform other duties as required
Salary/Benefits:
Full Tuition Waiver for each semester employed, monthly stipend and
graduate student health insurance.
Term: 20 Hours per week; 12 Month Appointment at
will
